Alan Gibson – Chair

Alan has been a shareholder of MGI Irrigation since 1986, a director since 2009, and Chair of the Board since 2018.

With his wife Leigh, Alan is an owner/director of Springdale Dairies, where they farm a family dairy operation and associated dairy support runoff area, located at Waituna and Hook areas, Waimate. He also has an interest in a family dairy farm at Glenavy.

Born and raised on a family property on Middle Road near MGI’s Bells Pond intake, Alan has maintained close ties to the region throughout his career.

Since leaving school, Alan has taken a hands-on approach to both farming and learning, including active involvement in New Zealand Young Farmers Club leadership and governance development. He reads widely on agricultural topics and maintains a strong interest in rural issues, as well as local and regional government policy. His practical, down-to-earth outlook enables him to approach decisions with a balanced and well-informed perspective.
